Low-income Americans are roughly three times more likely to see a doctor if they are enrolled in Medicare, a study suggests.Researchers that 14.7 per cent of poor 64-year-olds delayed seeking medical care while 15.5 percent avoided are altogether due to cost, while only 6.2 percent of Medicare enrollees delayed care and less than 6 per cent avoided it. The federal healthcare program for roughly 63 million seniors is effective at removing some of the financial barriers to healthcare for seniors that people with private health insurance still face.
