Dr. Rachel Levine - the first openly transgender government official - is among Biden officials pushing to make it easier for children under the age of 18 to change genders. She began her transition in 2011, when she was 54. She'd already been married for 23 years and raised two children, both of whom are now young adults, and says she's glad she waited so long because it allowed her to have a family.
