Residents of a small town in fear for their health and safety after huge clouds of toxic chemicals were released in a controlled explosion following a train derailment earlier this month.About 50 cars, including 10 carrying hazardous materials, in East at about 9pm on Friday, February 3.Homes within a one-mile area were soon evacuated as vinyl chloride was slowly released from five of those cars. Authorities then ignited the gases for a of the highly flammable, toxic chemicals in a controlled environment, creating a dark plume of smoke seen miles away.
