A campaign driven by conservative residents of rural Oregon to secede and join is gaining traction in both states.The movement, known as Greater Idaho, would see 13 counties leave Oregon and take with them nine percent of its population, along with the nearly two-thirds of the state's territory. Idaho would see its population grow by 21 percent, leaving it as large as neighboring Montana and twice as populous.Of the thirteen counties in the proposal, to move forward discussions about the prospect, and proponents are optimistic they will continue to gain traction. The move would require both state's legislatures to approve, along with the United States .
