No one was seriously injured Wednesday morning in Atlantic County when an SUV rear-ended a school bus stopped to pick up a student, authorities said. The driver of the SUV, a 17-year-old from Mays Landing, was issued a summons for careless driving after striking the back bumper of the bus, Hamilton Township police said in a statement.The bus was stopped in the northbound lane of Route 50 with its emergency lights activated when the SUV hit it at 7:11 a.m. near Pine Street. Twelve students headed to William Davies Middle School were aboard. One student was treated at the scene for a minor injury, Det. Lawrence Fernan said. The bus was being driven by a 53-year-old Mays Landing man.
