Seattle residents were buying more than people in two years after Seattle implemented a soda tax meant to deter people from consuming the sugary drinks, according to a recent study.The volume of beer sold in Seattle was seven percent higher than in Portland two years after the soda tax took effect on January 1, 2018. The volume of all alcohol sold in the Emerald City increased by five percent in the same period, according to a study by University of Illinois-Chicago researchers Lisa M. Powell and Julien Leider published last month in the journal .
