Six popular supplements advertised as being able to lower ‘bad’ cholesterol levels and improve heart health are a waste of money, a study has found.Fish oil, cinnamon, garlic, turmeric, plant sterols and red yeast rice comparing them with prescribed statin drugs.Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic tracked 199 adults aged 40 to 75 for 28 days as they each took either statins, a supplement or placebo.
