A 'canyon-like' cavity in the sun's atmosphere known as a coronal hole will launch a solar storm towards our planet tomorrow. According to experts, solar wind – a continual stream of charged particles – could be emitted from the hole and head towards Earth at staggering speeds of up to 1.8 million miles per hour.Worryingly, the solar storm could cause power grid fluctuations and orientation irregularities for spacecraft in the form of 'increased drag' on low-Earth orbiters.
