Terrifying flesh-eating animal on the rise in Southern state

A fly that lays flesh-eating larvae could threaten humans and wildlife in after it has been detected in .

The issued an urgent warning to its Southern residents to keep an eye out for the New World Screwworm, whose Latin name, hominivorax, means 'man-eater.'

The warning comes after a cow was found with the larvae at an inspection checkpoint in Chiapas, near the Mexico-Guatemala border, on November 22.
