With a new school year about to begin, plans to send 30 state police officers to bolster school patrols in Uvalde, three months after the city suffered the deadliest school shooting in more than a decade.Governor Greg Abbott announced the measure on Wednesday, saying that the cops from the state's Department of Public Safety would be on hand when classes resume next month. For many Uvalde students, the start of the school year on September 6 will be their first time back in the classroom since the May 24 massacre at Robb Elementary School. which left 19 children and two teachers dead.
