On Wednesday night January 23, 2019 the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department along with the California Highway Patrol were in pursuit of a parolee which began in Apple Valley at around 7:44pm. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Public Information Officer Jeff Allison, the pursuit began after officers performed a check on a parolee and the parolee fled. The pursuit continued on the 15 south to the 10 east where the suspect exited the freeway at Citrus where a PIT maneuver was made. The suspect then reversed the vehicle towards Deputies, at which time they opened fire.The suspect remained in the car during a brief standoff.Deputies eventually moved in and removed the parolee from the vehicle. The suspect was transported via ground ambulance for a gunshot wound to the chin.No civilians or Officers were injured in the gunfire. Reports during the pursuit indicated the suspect was armed and was willing to shoot at pursuing Deputies. No further details were immediately available
