The controversial United States immigration policy, Title 42, expired last week, marking a shift in US border restrictions. The policy allowed border authorities to turn back migrants looking to enter the US on the spot on the grounds that they might be carrying COVID-19. With pandemic-era restrictions now relaxed, the end of Title 42 has many believing it will now be easier for migrants from Latin America to enter the US, and expecting an influx of migrants in the next few months. But others believe it will actually be harder – especially with President Joe Biden’s broader new border policy which comes with strict new measures to tighten the border in light of Title 42’s removal.
