Weeks before his scheduled retirement, Pakistan’s military chief has travelled to the United States for a series of high-level discussions.General Qamar Javed Bajwa held meetings on Tuesday with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, during which they discussed the regional security situation, according to the Pakistani military.For its part, the Pentagon said the talks were “focused on opportunities to address key mutual defence interests”.
