The top U.S. general in the Middle East on Tuesday said that remained the greatest threat to the region and that it had 3,000 ballistic missiles, some of which could reach as far as Israel's Mediterranean city of Tel Aviv. Appearing before the Armed Services Committee, Gen Kenneth McKenzie laid out the biggest challenges in the region and said only a handful of fighters appeared to have taken up Russia's call for Syrians to fight in Ukraine. But he said Iran represented the biggest day-to-day danger to regional security and would become much more dangerous if it were able to acquire nuclear arms.
