White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan sidestepped questions Tuesday about whether President Biden believes Ukraine can defeat Russian troops whose invasion of that country has lasted nearly four weeks.The non-vote of confidence in Ukrainian forces came as Biden prepared to travel to Europe this week to speak with US allies about imposing sanctions against Russia and supplying arms to Ukraine.“Does the president believe that Ukraine can win a military victory here? And if so, why haven’t we heard that from him thus far?” RealClearPolitics reporter Philip Wegmann asked Sullivan at a press briefing.
