The governments of the United States and Canada have announced another round of sanctions against Iranian officials accused of human rights violations as protests roil Iran.The US Department of the Treasury said in a press release on Friday that the sanctions target three Iranian security and law enforcement officials that the US has accused of involvement in the detentions of anti-government protesters and the violence against them.“Today, we have taken coordinated sanctions actions against Iranian officials connected to human rights abuses, including those committed as part of the ongoing brutal crackdown aimed at denying the Iranian people their human rights and fundamental freedoms,” Canada and the US said in a joint statement, also released on Friday.
