Ukraine and the US are reportedly on the verge of signing a minerals deal that has been negotiated for months. The deal, expected to be signed later on Wednesday, reportedly gives the United States preferential access to new Ukrainian natural resources deals, but does not automatically hand Washington a share of 's mineral wealth or any of its gas infrastructure. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that the deal was due to be signed in the next 24 hours.
