The United States’s top diplomat says President Joe Biden has invited Southeast Asian leaders to a summit to discuss the crisis in Myanmar and is weighing tougher sanctions against the country’s military following its power grab in February.Antony Blinken made the comments on Wednesday during a trip to Malaysia, where he described the 10-member Association for Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as “essential to the architecture of the Indo-Pacific region”.“We very much look forward to having a special summit with ASEAN next year,” he said.
