A Washington -based wedding planner has taken to to criticize a wedding venue - alleging that the venue glamourized a dark time in American history by hosting weddings in buildings that looked like slave quarters. Andrew Roby, a Black army vet who runs a wedding planning business, posted a video drawing comparisons between a plantation-style wedding venue named White Magnolia and 18th Century slave quarters. The White Magnolia wedding venue is by a mother-daughter duo, Janet Henderson Cagley and Callie Richardson and was first built in 2016 - leaving many scratching their heads as to why they would choose to build the structures in a way that seemed to mimic slave cabins.
