And this month, many of the people who run New Jersey government day to day will get a big raise.
About 30 employees from Murphy's administration and top staff from Republican and Democratic offices of the Senate and Assembly will see bumps of more than $30,000 a year.
Even with that big pay bump, they're not the highest-paid state employees. That privilege perennially goes to the heads of state authorities and psychiatrists at state-run institutions.
But the wages paid to members of the governor's administration, including these top aides and department heads, top $100,000.
