Many offices and businesses will shut their doors on Monday to honor Memorial Day. The holiday - which commemorates the victims of the Civil War - falls on the last Monday of every May. Originally known as 'Decoration Day,' it was officially recognized in 1971.While most banks and post offices will shutter for the day, major retailers are set to remain open - and all national parks will open with free admission.
