Park City, once renowned for its Olympic greatness, was among a handful of ski resorts that were plagued with complaints of overcrowding last year after a bumper season spawned by discounted tickets. The gripes were many and extreme. Locals deemed the resorts 'ruined' and tourists looked on at social media photos of chairlift lines with horror. It was down to Vail Resorts, the conglomerate behind most of America's skiing and snowboarding destinations, offering discounted season tickets with its Epic Pass. A surge of thrill-seekers and budding snow bunnies snapped up the cheaper tickets and headed for the slopes, to the dismay of the loyalist locals or wealthier tourists who had always been able to afford previous, pricier trips.
