A Strange Loop was named Broadway's best new musical at the 75th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday night, helping its producer Jennifer Hudson reach EGOT status.
The 40-year-old singer had previously won an Oscar in 2006 for Best Supporting Actress in Dreamgirls, a Daytime Emmy for executing producing the VR-animated film Baby Yaga and two Grammy Awards, one for Best R&B Album for her self-titled 2009 album and another in 2017 for Best Musical Theater Album for The Color Purple.
Only John Legend and Robert Lopez, who were both 39, were younger than Hudson when they became EGOT winners, while The Lehman Trilogy and Company were the night's big winners with five Tony's apiece.
