Federal prosecutors have reached a plea deal with Greg McMichael, 66, and his son Travis McMichael, 35 over hate crimes charges in the 2020 killing of Ahmaud Arbery, for which they were found guilty at the state level.
However, Arbery's parents immediately came out against the plea deal, which they called an 'unauthorized backroom deal' that 'is a huge accommodation to the men who hunted down and murdered' their son.
The McMichaels were convicted in November, alongside William 'Roddie' Bryan in Arbery's murder and were set to serve life without parole, though Bryan was allowed to seek parole.
