Around one in six gifts opened for are set to be taken back to stores or posted back to depots, figures out today show. And just three in ten items will make it back to shelves, with the cost of sorting, cleaning, repackaging and moving goods mean it is esier to seel them off cheaply at auctions. A new report out today reveals Americans returned 14.5 per cent of items they bought this year - nearly twice as many as in 2019. A even bigger percentage of items bought for the holidays will be returned in coming weeks.
