Archives asks DOJ to investigate Trump taking White House documents

The National Archives and Records Administration has asked the Justice Department to look into former President 's removal of records as he left the White House – opening up a new area of potential legal exposure for Trump.

The referral of information follows the disclosure by the Archives recovered 15 boxes of White House materials that were being held at Mar-a-Lago – in apparent contravention of federal records acts.

Officials described the matter, reported by the , as 'preliminary,' saying it was not clear whether they would investigate the former president or his aides.
