A new poll shows a slim majority of Americans in support of 's so-called 'Don't Say Gay' bill that bans the teaching of sexual orientation and identity among children in grades kindergarten through three.
The bill, whose official title is HB1557 Parental Rights in Education bill, has passed both the Florida State House and and awaits signature from Governor Ron DeSantis despite widespread protest from the + community.
The law bars instruction on 'sexual orientation or gender identity' in kindergarten through grade three. Introduced by two Florida lawmakers and backed by DeSantis, they say the bill's aim is to 'empower parents' in their children's education, and make teachers recognize the distinction between 'instruction' and 'discussion.'
