Defence Minister Richard Marles has described the passing of a landmark law by the US Congress allowing the sale of nuclear submarines to Australia as a "historic moment".Overnight American legislators approved legislation allowing the country to sell Virginia class nuclear-powered submarines to Australia under the AUKUS defence treaty."It is a historic moment. It's the first time America has ever authorised the sale of a nuclear-powered submarine to any other country," Marles told Today this morning.
