The Australian government announced today it will buy $7 billion of advanced US missiles to bolster the nation's military arsenal.
Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy announced the agreement from Washington DC overnight following its approval by the US Congress.
Under the deal, the Royal Australian Navy will be equipped with hundreds of SM-2 IIIC and SM-6 American-built long-range missiles, capable of hitting land, sea and air targets.
