The avocado crisis isn't over just yet.
The average price for the fruit jumped to a record-breaking high for the first time in more than two decades after a temporary U.S. ban hindering supply from the world's biggest exporter - - earlier this year, resulting in more expensive guacamole and avocado toast.
The 81 percent price increase of the fruit will now have its effect felt by consumers as a 20-pound (9kg) box of avocados from the Michoacan state, the only region in Mexico with approval to export the fruit to the U.S., will cost roughly $39, or 760 pesos, starting March 29.
