The world of baseball is mourning the loss of one of its most colorful characters Lee Elia after his death was announced a week shy of his 88th birthday.
Elia was a World Series champion coach with the Philadelphia Phillies and a former player and manager across a host of Major League baseball teams.
His death was announced on X by the Philadelphia Phillies, who released a statement which reads: 'The Phillies mourn the loss of Lee Elia, who managed the club from 1987-88. He passed away on July 9 just shy of his 88th birthday.
