President Biden met Tuesday with Vice President Kamala Harris and the top Republican and Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss the Supreme Court vacancy that will be created by Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement.
The president told reporters he’s interested in choosing a nominee who believes there are “unenumerated rights” in the Constitution, as well as that he believes “the Constitution is always evolving slightly in terms of additional rights or curtailing rights.”
The president, who was a senator for 36 years, kicked off the meeting by calling Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) “two good friends.”
