A 60 second ad during the Super Bowl was so unique – and so successful – that it crashed the app of the cryptocurrency exchange that aired it and poured millions towards buying and selling digital currency.
US exchange Coinbase aired the ad which solely consisted of a QR code that bounced around the screen, much like a DVD loading screen from the early 2000s.
When users scanned the QR code on their television with their phone, they were directed to Coinbase's website where all new users received $USD 15 ($20.98) worth of Bitcoin.
