State University will try to leave the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in a move that could lead to the eventual downfall of the college athletics league if their lawsuit is successful. The school is challenging the estimated $572million penalty they say they'd face if they break the TV contract they signed which handed over their 'grant of rights' (GoR) to ESPN. An emergency meeting of the FSU board of trustees resulted in a unanimous decision to file a complaint for declaratory judgement against the ACC - challenging if the conference's exit fee and grant of rights is legally enforceable against the school.
