A new highly-mutated variant is more likely to cause infections in people who have already been vaccinated, US health officials said. The recently detected BA.2.86 variant could be more likely to cause infections in people who were previously infected and those who have already been vaccinated than older variants, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention () announced Wednesday. However, the agency said it was too soon to know if this will cause more severe infection than other variants.
