Rep. Liz Cheney, one of two GOP lawmakers on the House select committee investigating last year’s Capitol riot, slammed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich after he suggested that members of the panel could face legal consequences if Republicans take control of Congress in November’s midterm elections.
“I think when you have a Republican Congress, this is all going to come crashing down,” Gingrich, a Georgia Republican who served as speaker from 1995 to 1999, said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“And the wolves are going to find out that they’re now sheep and they’re the ones who are in fact, I think, face a real risk of jail for the kinds of laws they’re breaking,” he continued.
