Child is separated from parents during chaos of parade shooting

A desperate search has been launched for the parents of a boy who was separated from them in the chaotic aftermath of a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade where a gunman killed at least six and injured 24 people.

The boy was 'safe but with strangers' in the aftermath of the shooting in Highland Park, an affluent and quiet suburb in the outskirts of , according to a from CBS Chicago's Jackie Kostek.

The boy has curly brown hair and blue eyes, and is pictured sitting on a man's lap and wrapped in a towel.
