The bonkbuster is not necessarily my favourite genre of reading material. But I couldn't help being intrigued by one recently published called Naked In Mayfair by 'The Secret Socialite', revolving around the 'uninhibited sexual odyssey of Ava, a blonde bombshell and newly divorced banker looking for love', as the blurb on the back reads. One can see why The Socialite wants to be Secret. Not just because she is a mother of grown-up children and works in the very highest echelons of finance, but because of the eye-wateringly graphic descriptions of sex, many of which, readers, are based on her own experiences as a spurned divorcee.Like Fifty Shades Of Grey — whose author, E.L. James, has just brought out another book called The Missus — it is literally one steamy bedroom scene after another. But while James deals solely in the thrill of domination, our author is more focused on what it's like for an older woman, newly dumped, such as herself, going out there to reawaken herself sexually.
