Dame Helen Mirren has admitted criticism of her decision to play late Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir is 'legitimate' after Bradley Cooper faced similar backlash for his portrayal of Jewish composer Leonard Bernstein. The British actress, 78, - who features in a glamorous new cover-shoot for the fall-winter edition of magazine - plays the late Golda Meir, to date Israel's only female Prime Minister, in director Guy Nattiv's forthcoming biopic. And Mirren says playing the leader despite having no off-screen connections to Judaism has been met with 'utterly legitimate' criticism from those who believe the role should have been passed to a Jewish actress.
