A dead body was pulled from the Hudson River near the city’s train terminal, according to the New Jersey Transit Police Department.
Police were alerted that a man had jumped into the river at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, according to NJ Transit police spokesperson Lisa Torbic.
One officer attempted to rescue the man by jumping in himself, Torbic said, but the victim did not survive.
The officer was not injured but was sent to Jersey City Medical Center for observation, she said.
The Hoboken Police and Fire departments assisted in the incident, she said.
