A while back, I noticed patches of mottled skin on my upper thighs. I called my GP, who said they were nothing to worry about. In the past two weeks they've spread to my groin and I've developed pain in the area, too. I spoke to the practice nurse, who said there are signs of compromised blood flow to the legs. What could be causing the problem? In some cases, mottled skin is normal and not harmful. For instance, it can happen in the legs of babies and young people in cold weather, but disappears as soon as they are in a warmer environment. However, it is not normal when it appears on the tummy or around the genitals in someone who hasn't had it before. It requires further investigation by a doctor.
