A Long Island medical student whose face was left severely disfigured from an acid attack a year ago slammed police for failing to catch her assailant, claiming they 'didn't take it seriously.'
Nafiah Ikram, 22, had just returned home from working at a local CVS store around 8:20 p.m. on March 17, 2021, when the attacker ran up behind her in the driveway of her family's Elmont home and doused her with acid.
The Hofstra University medical student suffered severe burns to her face that resulted in numerous surgeries. She was left blind in her left eye after the acid melted her contact lens, but despite the horrific she suffered, no arrests have ever been made.
