The Food and Drug Administration () will gain the power to regulate synthetic nicotine on Thursday, potentially opening the door for a full fledged ban of flavored e-cigarettes in the United States.
A small part of a $1.5 trillion spending package passed by congress in March, which was headlined by aid sent to Ukraine to assist in its war against , was a provision that allows for the FDA to regulate synthetic nicotine.
It goes into effect on Thursday, April 14, and could open the door for a full scale ban of flavored nicotine in all forms in the U.S., closing loopholes used by companies in recent months to evade regulations set last year.
