Female corrections deputy charged with having SEX with male inmate

A female corrections deputy has been charged with having sex with a male inmate in a jail, less than a year after she was hired.

Akira Lequan Jones, 20, a deputy with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, was placed on administrative leave last month pending a formal investigation.

She was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual contact with prisoners, a Class E felony.
