A fire broke out at an iconic Manhattan hotel hours after an exiled Chinese billionaire who lived in the building was arrested on charges of masterminding a $1 billion fraud. Guo Wengui, who has closed links to right wing firebrand Steve Bannon, was detained at his $32 million apartment in the Sherry-Netherland Hotel in the Upper East Side at about 6am on Wednesday morning. The blaze broke out at around midday and the is now investigating whether it's linked to Guo's arrest. The two-alarm fire burned for several hours before it was brought under control and FDNY crews are now performing safety checks.
