A group of Americans became the first to board a U.S. naval boat at Port Sudan Sunday as part of the first evacuation of citizens from the war-torn country. Some 200 to 300 Americans arrived in the port Saturday after a convoy of buses carried them over 500 miles from the country's capital Khartoum, U.S. officials confirmed.The dangerous land journey took place under the escort of armed drones, which had been keeping an eye on evacuation routes for days.
