A freshman is recovering after she was struck by lightning as she walked to her first day of classes at the University of West Florida.
Emma Eggler, 18, who is originally from , , was about to start the first day of her freshman classes in Pensacola when she was suddenly hit by a bolt in her chest, forcing her to the ground at around 2pm on Monday.
The force of the blast ripped off her sweater, caused Eggler's watch to explode, and even blew a hole in one of her shoes and socks.
