Conservationists have released 41 'apex predator' snakes into the wilderness to hunt down venomous snakes as an essential part of the ecosystem. The Nature Conservancy in Florida and the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens released the young eastern indigo snakes into the Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve on Tuesday. The snakes - 20 male and 21 female - are all two years old and were bred and hatched in captivity in preparation to be released.
