Fox News contributor quits, slams network as 'propaganda machine'

A longtime Fox News contributor quit the conservative network Tuesday and blasted it as a "propaganda machine" for the Trump administration.

Ralph Peters, a retired Army lieutenant and strategic analyst, wrote an email to colleagues announcing his departure Tuesday.

“Over my decade with Fox, I long was proud of the association,” Peters wrote in the email obtained by BuzzFeed News. “Now I am ashamed.”

“Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration,” he continued.

Peters also said he was “appalled” at the hosts attacking President Barack Obama for his handling of Russian President Vladimir Putin and for advancing Putin’s agenda.

In 2015, the network suspended Peters for calling Obama “a total p---y” while talking about terrorism on air.

In the email, he also called out the network for defending President Trump in light of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

“Ralph Peters is entitled to his opinion despite the fact that he's choosing to use it as a weapon in order to gain attention,” a Fox News spokeswoman said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of our top-rated primetime hosts and all of our opinion programming.”
