A hiker had to be saved from the summit of a mountain by a rescue helicopter after being caught up in atrocious winter weather that left him 'severely hypothermic'.
Patrick Bittman, 28, from , , had hoped to witness an unforgettable sunrise from the 5,249ft summit of Mount Lafayette.
Setting off on Wednesday night and hiking alone, he was faced by a wall of wind and snow as he approached the top of Little Haystack on Franconia Ridge at 4,760 ft.
